Email Questions and Troubleshooting

What causes email to corrupt, this happens to me very often?

Corrupted email is common problem these days. Most of it is caused by forwarded (FW:) messages. As an email is handed from computer to computer it is suseptible to the conditions of each individual computer and not everybody maintains their machine, by the time it gets to the end of the line it will have developed problems and somebody will eventually get stuck with it. If this is the case try some of these email tools

My email account has been blocked, why?

In order to try to protect subscribers from spammers and email viruses... a never ending war by the way. It is necessary to block accounts that may meet those conditions. One way to keep this from happening is to not send more than three emails at a time. Dial-up users should not reply to their email while offline and then connect and send them. When several emails are send in less than a minute, this appears as a spam server or an infected machine to the network and the account is blocked.

I am having problems sending/receiving email!?

There are many things that can cause this issue, here are few of them:

  • Your anti-virus software may be expired or is no longer functioning properly, try disabling it.
  • Sometimes your anti-virus will make changes to your account settings, make sure that your server names are correct and that the username has no additional characters, such as "@isp.com".
  • If you are using a dial-up connection you may have a large email in your inbox that you can not download. Tell your family and friends that you have a dial-up connection and not to send such large emails, people with broadband connections tend to get desensitized to their speed and forget that not everyone can connect as fast as them. If this is the case try some of these email tools. If you have recently checked your email via your providers website wait about 15 minutes before you check it with an email client, this way the server will have logged you out.
  • Make sure the address you are sending to is correct.
  • Make sure that any attachment is below the maximum allowed size.
