Instant Messengers

Instant Messengers are private chat clients that allow users to communicate with only the people that they choose to. Users should be careful when using instant messenging software as they can pose security concerns allowing viruses and even commands to be run against your computer.

  • AOL Instant Messenger - AIM is a popular instant messenging service used by many people.
  • Google Talk Beta - An instant messenger developed by Google.com, allows user to check their gmail accounts and use voice chat.
  • ICQ - ICQ is a popular messenging program that allows users to set up their own chatrooms and share files.
  • Windows Live Messenger - (Formerly known as MSN Messenger) The latest version of Microsoft's instant messenger, supports voice and video chat and can connect with Yahoo instant messenger users.
  • Yahoo Instant Messenger - YIM is another popular instant messenger that allows users to communicate with Windows Live Messenger users and make phone calls over the web, also supports video and voice chat.
